Stochastic singular wave equations

Room 7D - Politecnico di Torino, corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24

Speaker: Professor Massimiliano Gubinelli (Hausdorff Chair, Universität Bonn)

Abstract: A pedagogical introduction to some recent development in the field of non-linear wave equations perturbed by additive white noise in two and three space dimensions.
The perturbation causes the solutions to live only in space of irregular distributions, therefore some care has to be taken in order to define non-linear operation in a meaningful way.
This can be achieved using paradifferential calculus and some fine analysis of oscillatory sums.

Joint work with Herbert Koch (Bonn) and Tadahiro Oh (Edinburgh).
