The EU proposal for regulating AI in Europe
Innovative applications of AI offer many opportunities in various fields, but at the same time raise important issues to be addressed carefully. After an initial focus on ethical guidelines to guide AI development, a recent turn in the debate on AI from ethics to law has characterised the European approach.
In February 2020, the European Union set out the key elements of a future regulatory framework in its White Paper on AI and is now ready to open the discussion on its horizontal regulatory proposal.
Against this background, this roundtable seminar aims to provide an overview of this proposal considering EU, non-EU, and international perspectives.
Seminar with Justin Nogarede (FEPS), Leyla Keser Berber (Representative of Turkey at the Council of Europe Ad Hoc Committee on AI - CAHAI) and Vincent Graf Narbel (Strategic Technology Adviser in the ICRC Digital Transformation & Data Office)
