Caribbean Education for Sustainable Urban Development
"Caribbean Education for Sustainable Urban Development" is an international conference organized on October 1 and 2 in the framework of the Erasmus+ project Citylab CAR.
The project is a collaboration between 10 Caribbean and 5 European universities. The conference aims to disseminate insights and stimulate academic discussion on innovative learning methods for sustainable (urban) development in Caribbean higher education. It is organized as a combination of both national sessions at Citylab partner institutions and online international sessions of the keynote speeches and the student competition.
On October 1 an online student competition will be organized with students involved in the Citylab courses at the different institutions presenting their projects and being evaluated by an interdisciplinary jury. These sessions of 20min per student team are free for everyone to attend. Simultaneously everyone is invited to visit the virtual exhibition with posters to check out the student projects and vote for their favorite.
On October 2 two keynote speakers: Khanjan Mehta (Vice Provost for Creative Inquiry and Director of the Mountaintop Initiative, Lehigh University) and Rogier van den Berg (Director Urban Development, World Resources Institute Ross Center for Sustainable Cities). Everyone is invited to follow their presentations and engage in Q&A. On this day the national events in different partner countries will take place as well.
