Extra Lecture | Albena Yaneva _Archiving Matters for Design Architecture
The radical change in architectural practice in the 1990s triggered by computerization led to an “archival turn” in the field prompting practitioners to reflect on the formation of archives and the techniques of archivization, both traditional and novel. Architects became gradually more aware of the importance of taking care of their legacy and began appointing archivists and record managers to help them organize their archives.
Advocating the importance to study archives as practice, or archiving, in connection to designing, I ask: What constitutes an archive in architecture today?
